Vijay holds doctor of veterinary medicine degree, and masters degree in animal biotechnology. He has more than 20 years of diverse experience in biomedical research. He has worked as a post doctoral fellow, and research scientist at Johns Hopkins University, and published extensively on genetically modified animal models of human diseases like COPD, lung cancer, muscular dystrophy, sepsis, testicular aging, prostate cancer before venturing into his unfulfilled passion for medical device innovation.

When he was a practicing veterinarian, during 2005, he had the challenge of time constraints for castrating a lot of farm animals in a day using the conventional open surgery. To save time, he invented time-saving pinhole castration, a percutaneous minimally invasive spermatic cord ligation technique for rapid castration. The challenge of passing sutures in the tight and non-visual spaces lead him to invent our proprietary hammerhead shark™ magnetic technology, a rapid platform technology that formed the starting point of Acusurgeon. He is an out-of-the-box thinking inventor who is passionate about developing innovative rapid but intuitive technologies that help surgeons, patients, and healthcare systems to address the crisis of ever increasing patient wait time for surgical care.
